The Remarkables

The Remarkables ski field is one of the most popular in the Queenstown region. Not only does it provide very reliable skiing conditions, but it also has the most up to date facilities of all the local ski fields. The Remarkables ski field is about half an hours drive from Queenstown along one of the most spectacular roads in the world. It hugs the cliff face for many kilometers with precipitous drop offs into the river far below. The views over the local valleys and lakes has to be seen to be believed. If you are not happy to drive it yourself, there are free shuttle bus services available from the center of Queenstown which run on a regular basis. There is no on snow accommodation at the Remarkables so most skiers stay in Queenstown accommodation and utilise the shuttle bus service which also picks up from accommodation for a small fee.

The ski fields themselves are fantastic with lots of great skiing at all levels of competence. There are excellent beginners slopes with a magic carpet ride. Three major chairlifts take skiers to the top of the many slopes and to the ski park where there are jumps and rails to practice your tricks. The Remarkables has top class ski hire and a fantastic restaurand and coffee shop where you can overlook the slopes while you relax. This entire region is very easy to get to with direct flights into Queenstown from Australia during the ski season and flights from other New Zealand destinations during the rest of the year. The Remarkables, Coronet peak, Cardrona and Treble Cone are the most popular ski fields in the Queenstown region.
